Rick Beemer’s Bio for Christian Counseling

Rick gave his life to Christ in 1979 while he was a student at Michigan State University. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Education that same year and got significantly involved with Great Commission Ministries at MSU. He was married in 1984 to Candi, and they started a campus ministry at Eastern Michigan University in 1985. While there he completed a Master’s Degree in counseling, became licensed by the State, and was ordained by The Great Commission Association of Churches in 1990. Rick helped start Ridgewood Community Church of Wixom in 1988 and as an Associate Pastor, opened a church-sponsored Christian counseling center in 1990. Rick supplemented his Christian counselor training by attending several workshops at Equipping Ministries International, of Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there that he was trained to be an instructor for “Listening For Heaven’s Sake”, a communication skills workshop, which he has taught several times to church groups, couples, and individuals. Rick was trained in Inner Healing Prayer in 2002, and has since ministered thousands of hours and mentored others who have developed Inner Healing Prayer ministries at churches in Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia, and Florida. Rick has presented seminars on counseling issues and Inner Healing Prayer at Faithwalkers Conferences and at annual Pastor’s Conferences, both sponsored by The Great Commission Association of Churches where Rick has served as a Pastor and Licensed Counselor for over two decades.

More recently, Rick has served on the board of Edge Venture, a Christian men’s ministry and has partnered with fellow board member, Tim Broe, to present a marriage workshop/seminar. It is designed to help couples to face the challenges/barriers in their relationship by focusing on honest and authentic communication.

“I feel privileged to be a part of what God is doing to set people free from their struggles. It is truly a blessing to see what happens when people allow Him to renew their minds and experience transformed lives through Inner Healing Prayer. Working with men and their particular issues, and having the opportunity to help couples is both challenging and rewarding.” – Rick Beemer
